The Ministry of Children and Family Development in collaboration with Touchstone Family Association, Hollyburn Family Services, Family Services of Greater Vancouver and Connexus Family and Children Services have implemented a new model for delivering support and education services to foster families in the Vancouver Coastal Region.
Tier 1 - General services available to all foster homes in the region via self-referral, providing:
- Training and education services
- General support
- Peer mentoring
- 24 hour telephone support
- Facilitation of relief services
Tier 2 - In-home Foster family support, referrals through MCFD or VACFSS
- Assistance with service planning
- Parent-teen mediation
- Behavioural support
- Assessment and clinical consultation
Tier 3 - The most intensive and clinically focused of the continuum
- In-home Specialized Support Services
- All support services in Tier 2
- Therapeutic intervention
- Mental health consultation
- Specific skills development for children and youth
